Woa! I just realised this site doesn't support 800x600 resolution. Fixed!

And ps, Myrk: Don't forget to close your <p>s because some browsers (like IE#41; won't tolerate mistakes like that.

Other than that, I am planning to upload the no-budget video for Ymirs Skugge here somewhere, but for now you can check out the google video stream below.

No, we are not dead yet, just resting. Now, here are some updates for you all. Firstly, we have gotten some feedback on the "s/t '08" that I thought I would share with you all.

Nordic Vision Mag. writes; "When listening to a demo, as oppose to an album, I look for potential when a band is perhaps a long way from a possible goal. This band is a long way from a possible goal with their music. And to be honest, I have seldom come across a band that is as bad as this. Not only is the playing skills bad, but the ability to compose interesting music is totally absent."

Burning Black Zine writes; "Muspelheim started its existence in 2004 as a solo project of Surtur, who lately, before the recording of its first demo, “The Muspelheim Inferno”, recluted Myrk Vargkjetter as a lyric composer. After this demo, and a participation in a LIE Records compilation, Cerguant joined the band as a drummer… Nordic inspired Black Metal is what this obscure trio delivers at this first full length; the sharpenedness of the guitar work is the band’s trademark, leading the whole music during the 45 minutes this album lasts, the strident and buzzing atmospheres created by the saturated riffing contributes with a strong Burzum-esque ambiance full of asphyxiating movements and obscure melancholy, but unlike the Norwegian band, Muspelheim do not focuses its atmospheres in hypnotic and repetitive riffs, but in pretty melodic, somewhat epic, still strident as hell compositions… The drum work here is quite discrete but accurate, dealing, without further complications, with the mid to slow velocities that reigns over this album, always maintaining a varied and vibrant performance. The vocal work is a Black Metal standard, but sound here quite buried under the dense wall of electric riffs, diminishing the power and efficiency of the ripping, somewhat Fenriz styled, vocals of Surtur… The production is also a detail to improve; I’ve always liked the traditional bad sounding Black Metal production, but the high-pitched saturation of the guitars here, will turns you deaf after a couple of listenings… Despite of these couple of details, this album shows an interesting potential and some decent traces of originality; even when the hateful and mournful sound of Burzum seems to be a clear influence, the music of Muspelheim moves far away from the mere copy, reaching a personal and obscure proposal, always into the well defined parameter of the traditional Nordic influenced Black Metal… of course."

So there you got it! In addition, the especially interested might want to pick up a copy of The Procession of Black Doom #3 which will feature a lengthy interview with yours truly. The rest of you should pick it up regardless. Excellent Aussie print-zine! That's it for now, I think. I'll make an additional update in a few days with some further information on the future of the project, as well as some news on a ltd. casette release..

With countless hours left behind us, Myrk and I sit satisfied looking at the new design wondering how much smoke has actually filled the room today?
It's simplistic yet stylish. I hope it suits your browsing pleasure. Tåke out.

The second demo is well on its way, and we are currently busy recording vocals, finishing drumtracks and writing lyrics for the last few songs. "Tre Dager", which appeared on "Denne Kampen..." (Ond Gaffel prod./LIE reords), has had its vocals re-recorded, but the programmed drums will remain on that particular song. All other songs will feature real drums done by Cerguant. The real drums makes a real difference, obviously, and the vocals are also improved from the last demo.

Drums on the upcoming Muspelheim demo will be handled by session drummer Cerguant. We are excited to finally be working with a real drummer. Hopefully the result will be great. Muspelheim will be also be appearing on a upcoming split with Vigour Abruptness, Dimmgard and Norgathaal. Muspelheim will be contributing with "Surturs Inkaldelse" from "The Muspelheim Inferno" demo, and an early version of a song for the upcoming demo (sorry, no real drums). The split will be released in the nearest future and be distributed by Lie Records and through arrangement. More news on the split and upcoming demo will be posted closer to the release dates.
